Babies and Children ReflexologyGentle Touch of reflexology

Sarah Woodhouse, AoR, BCRIA

I am a mother of two, and a fully qualified Reflexologist and Gentle Touch™ Reflexology Instructor and Practitioner, who is committed to a holistic approach to lifelong health and well-being for the whole family.  I am a member of the Association of Reflexologists, and the Babies and Children Reflexology International Association, and I have trained under Sue Ricks (suericks.com), the originator of Gentle Touch™ Reflexology.

There are many types of reflexology which offer lovely outcomes, but Gentle Touch™ is especially suitable for babies and children.  We use the lightest of touch and massage to gently stimulate key areas of the hands or feet, known as reflex points, which exert an influence on areas of the body that directly correspond to those points.  As a result, reflexology can have a hugely positive impact on the emotional, physical and mental health and well-being of every single member of your family, no matter what their age.

The benefits can be significant and can cover a wide range of conditions and situations, including:

•    Common childhood complaints such as teething, colic, tummy aches and headaches;
•    Calming and relaxing;
•    Stress, anxiety and anger;
•    Increasing self-confidence and esteem;
•    Aiding restful sleep;
•    Improving digestive function – including constipation and diarrhoea;
•    Persistent urine infections;
•    Encouraging bonding.

Gentle Touch™ Reflexology and traditional Reflexology
Sarah Woodhouse, AoR, BCRIA

We are more aware than ever of the positive effect that complementary therapies, such as reflexology, can have on the emotional, physical and mental health and well-being of every single member of our family, no matter what their age, from baby through to adult.  As well as using them to treat existing conditions and situations, many of us are now using complementary therapies more holistically, as an integral part of our entire family’s every-day approach to lifelong health and well-being.

As a trained Reflexologist and Gentle Touch™ Reflexology (GTR) Instructor and Practitioner I am committed to this ethos.  I work using traditional reflexology and GTR, a technique which uses a very light touch and massage to work the reflex points in the hands or feet.  For this reason GTR is especially suited to babies, children and teenagers.

What are the benefits?

All forms of reflexology draw on the power of touch and the knowledge that by gently pressing or massaging key areas of the hands or feet, (known as reflex points), we create a healing influence on areas of the body that directly correspond to those reflex points.  Working with the body’s in-built healing mechanism, this can help bring about positive benefits and changes to situations and conditions on a physical, emotional and energetic level.

The benefits of a reflexology treatment can be significant, and can include:

•    Alleviating common childhood complaints including: colic, teething, headaches, tummy aches;
•    Back Pain;
•    Calming / providing an opportunity to relax / improving our ability to relax;
•    Helping to deal with anxiety, stress, anger and frustration;
•    Improving digestive functions, including constipation, diarrhoea & IBS;
•    Improving over-all feeling of health and well-being;
•    Increasing self-confidence and esteem;
•    Joint discomfort;
•    Persistent urine infections.

Specifically for babies, children and teenagers, reflexology can provide them with the support that they may need now, and can also help to lay the foundations for a future where they are empowered to become responsible for their own emotional, physical and mental health and well-being.

Treatments and classes

I offer one to one Reflexology / Gentle Reflexology treatments for babies, children, teenagers and adults, including mums and dads to be, and I run small classes and workshops where you can learn key Gentle Touch Reflexology techniques to enable you to use them back in the comfort of your own home.  You can also arrange tailored classes or workshops just for you and your friends.
