The Pilates Method is not just a series of exercises but a complete approach to developing body awareness. It concentrates on developing the strength of the core stability muscles and in doing so improves posture alignment. It is highly recommended for those with back injuries or postural issues.
The Key Benefits of Pilates are :
- Better posture;
- less incidence of back pain;
- strength and muscle tone;
- flatter stomach and toned buttocks;
- fewer injuries;
- Suitable for everyone, regardless of fitness levels,, ideal for those that suffer with back problems.

TEACHERS PROFILES
Sarah Geeves
I have been practicing Pilates for the last 10 years after a physiotherapist recommended it to me to help rehabilitate a knee injury. To begin with the foundation exercises were very slow and relaxing whilst I learned the basic principles. This was a refreshing change from my usual energetic exercise regime! As I progressed, the exercises became more challenging and as a result my body became more strong and supple. My posture improved and I fell in love with Pilates. My body simply feels better from doing it.
Already working as a Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer, I decided in 2006 to train to become a Pilates Teacher so that I could share my passion for Pilates with others. I trained with Future Fit Training and since then I have not looked back. I now work freelance as a Pilates Teacher and my sessions are based around Joseph Pilates original regime of exercises. Each exercise involves movement flowing from a strong centre using breathing to help rebalance the body, both stretching and strengthening the muscles. Controlled, quality movements are used to help develop awareness, concentration and promote relaxation. Sessions are tailored for beginners or mixed level, either in a group or 1-2-1 basis.
I am excited to be teaching at the Self Centre and I look forward to meeting you soon.
